5vers are good for tall people. My son is 6.5 ft. and broke some light fixtures in my TT when he hit his head on them. Also I've seen some nice floorplans with spiral staircases.

Those Crossroads are nice, think I may have been through one ;) The word "premium" comes to mind [thumbs_up]

Yea, I've seen the spiral stairs in some of the toy haulers that have the roof top patio  A little over the top for me but a lot of people like to take them to Nascar races and the like.

The RV dealership just on the other side of the bridge had one of those roof top patio units and I didn't like it one bit. Sure, it's another TV room, and sure you could look down on other people's campers (hoping not to catch them in the middle of a shower) but they just didn't feel safe. wasn't a fan AT ALL. [thumbs_down] [thumbs_down] that is one fancy option I wouldn't be running to the dealership for.

HEY - Look... we just found my limit. Who would have know I had one??

Otherwise I LOVE the 5th wheel. My fathers is lovely. Has all the options (even a remote that controls everything). He also has the washer and dryer, but they only use it when hooked up to 50amp service. If he is hooked up to 30 than he needs to turn everything off including the fridge to run the dryer. Not to many OP Parks have 50amps (the only one we have come across was bronte - eh A_N?)

K this forum is bad bad bad. I saw the Crossroads linked here, wiped the drool off my face, grabbed lost and said I need $50,000 now and threw myself across the monitor.
I fail to see why it takes the dealer a week to get something ready! Don't they know I want it now!

40 nights in 2010 going to be a record breaking year!

And the outcome?

We did spend a significant amount of time in 5ers at the RV show last weekend, perhaps it was my memory, but they seem bigger, looks like everyone has gone to a full size height master bedroom now and the multiple slides give decent floorplan to consider,
Things is I wonder what the inside access is like with all these slides stuck in there?

My father has a rear living space model with pretty frosted glass doors separating it from the kitchen area... but it's unusable when the slide are in. Which they have said is a PITA when they are travel two and from Texas. When they are overnighting it they just end up in the bedroom (which also has a slide so that is too a tight squeeze) to watch TV or to read.

They also have another slide (four in total) where the kitchen table is. My stepmother states that it's a PITA when my dad is hovering in the trailer and she is trying to cook a meal (she has often times asked him to go play in traffic).

BUT with all that said, with the floor plan they have they still have access to all kitchen appliances, which isn't something I see feesable with the 5'ers that have the island in the kitchen.

This is the last year they are towing back and forth. Apparently they had some close calls on the way down south at at my father's age he just doesn't feel comfortable towing 15,000 worth of trailer that distance. They have purchased a doublewide in the same campground and the 5th wheel will be staying in Canada from now on.

Maybe I can ask him to leave it at MAC next winter so that I can keep an eye on it (oh, that would be nice).. He even has a fireplace... oh, that would be nice. I am going to start laying the ground work on that this summer

You are a BAD girl ;)

Regarding the slides and access we also went through rigs with that in mind as well. I see some rigs as almost useless on the road with everything in. What would possess engineers and a sales group to design a rig with no access while parked???? Morons and simpletons. I wouldn't buy into it.

Kitchen access, bathroom, master bedroom are absolutely essential while on the road and would be deal breakers regardless of the perfect floor plan.

It gets worse... Mark's cousin's from the UK just got a Work/Vaction visa to come here to Canada for 12 months (they have been trying to get over here for 3 years). I am starting to lay the ground work with them stating they should purchase a 4 season trailer to stay in for those 12 months because if they have to leave after those 12 months the odds of them getting 85% of their money back when selling privately would be good. And I already know some one that would be interesting in purchasing said trailer...

(I have also been helping them find an apartment, but just letting them know there are options out there ;) )

1. Totally agree on you with Elizabeth, I'm thinking her and I will sign up for a 12 step program of some sort ;).

2. Also agree with access while on the road. We had the oppurtunity to get inside the large Coachmen 32BHDS at our dealer with the slides retracted (yet another reason to get friendly with your dealer) and with the second entrance into the bathroom you had full access to the master bedroom, bathroom and galley. Access to the BH was restricted but DD managed to snake in there.
