My Weights - need more WD?

Postby Origami Camper » Sun Jun 10, 2012 9:59 pm

I stopped to weigh the trailer on the way back from camping this weekend (the guy running the scale was a bit of a prick, but anyway...)

My weights:

No Firewood
All Tanks Empty
Light load in the bed
Trailer Dry Weight sticker from factory - 4774

WEIGHT - RATING - ACTUAL
Front Axle - 3750 - 3263
Rear Axle - 3850 - 3792
Trailer Axles (both combined) - 7000 - 5049
Trlr Gross Weight - 7481 - ? (need accurate tongue weight measurement as well)
TV Gross Weight (Hitched) - 7200 - 7055
TV Gross Weight (Unhitched) - 7200 - 6305 (Measured on a different scale)
Gross Combined - 14000 - 12104

I'm close to my rear axle rating, and this is with no water, firewood, or beer on board. Weights leaving town will be higher for sure. Do you think I need to adjust the WDH to get more weight forward? I've got less than 150lbs to spare on the truck, but quite a bit of room in the trailer, front axle, and my gross combined.

It would make sense to move about 100-150lbs to the front axle, no???

What are the front and rear axle weights without weight?

Just guessing but it looks like you have a lot of tongue weight for 5000lbs of trailer axle weight.

I'd crank the EQ up a bit.

Your not in horrible shape, but there is room for improvement in that set up.

How many washers do you have in the hitch head?

I'm with KZ on this setup. Use the EQ to push a little more weight forward. If I am not mistaken you have a 1200/12000 EQ correct?

Yup, an Eco-beast will fix it right up . Order banks open for the 2013 models on June 26. Of course there are DEEP discounts on the 2012 for the time being, in fact a little birdie told me that Ford will be offering employee pricing beginning on June 15. ;)
