I now have the shelter and I will be testing its setup this weekend if time permits. Better to know how it all goes together here at home then at MAC. I'll let everyone know how it looks.

Reply received about the garage shelter that was used last winter on site #47:

"Hi Frank, sorry to take so long to reply. The shelter we had was from Canadian Tire. It was 10X10. They come on sale all the time. For extra support inside we used 2X4's and metal strapping wrapped around the framework. A few hours, a cordless drill, a circular saw and a couple of extra hands and it was done.
We did clear the snow off of it a number of times but never had any problems with it.
Enjoy the nice weather, any more questions let me know."

Frank, thanks for the info. It sounds like it is the same shelter I have. It is a 10X10X8. DW and I opened the box and inventoried everything to be sure it is all accounted for and it is. We'll be transporting it next weekend. I may indeed re-enforce it, but the first task is erecting it.

The shelter (or MAC Shack) has been erected. I have it in place and it already has proved useful. On Sunday morning when the snowfall turned to rain it provided me with a dry place to pack some of my items for transport back home. Overall I am very pleased with the construction and I believe will outlast the winter without incident. There is nothing inside of it of significant value so if something were to occur it would be no great loss. I will post pictures later this week.

I am stuck in the middle of an all nighter software upgrade, so while waiting for compiles I figured I'd get my pictures of the shelter uploaded, here they are:

So far, my woodpile, collapsable table, tote, I'll put chairs in there when we are camping and other misc items to keep them out of the weather. Also I will put my coleman stove and Weber in there on particularly nasty days to allow me to cook outside etc. You don't think it will be useful?

I think I'd have liked something maybe to cook under or even keep the wind off some of those night's, just not sure it's something I would have invested in is all. Hey, if it works for you, then it's all good. [thumbs_up]

For the price I can't argue, "I know a guy" for the deal. The shelter IMHO is not worth the full price, but for what I paid I certainly am very happy with it.
